Many little girls often dream about becoming princesses someday. Disney has made a fortune off their princess movies and has even brought them into the 21st century by creating stories about strong independent princesses that know what they want and can fend for themselves. However, there’s still something about wearing that beautiful gown and having a fancy crown that is so appealing. Dress up is a game for a reason! Unfortunately, the closest most of us will ever get to becoming royalty is feeling like royalty on our wedding day. Recently, one bride’s big day ended up being a fairytale come true for another little girl.
A few months ago, a little girl’s day was made when she and her mom came across a bridal party taking photos. Now, most people stop to admire a bridal party for the beautiful dresses the bridesmaids wear or the creative footwear selected for the groomsmen. Others reminisce about the fun they’ve had being a part of a bridal party or even being the bride and groom themselves! On this particular day though, this little girl stopped for a different reason. She was stopped in her tracks because she believed she was seeing the princess from her favorite book. The bride noticed the look of awe on the little girl’s face and immediately went to talk to her. Eventually, the bride asked the little girl to be in some photos with her and even gave her a rose from her bouquet as a souvenir of the day. How sweet is that!
It’s easy on your wedding day to have tunnel vision and only be focused on your immediate surroundings, but this bride was just enjoying her day and wanted to share a little bit of joy with everyone. Her husband said that she loves kids, so it was just icing on the cake for their already fantastic day. It is rare that regular people can even entertain the idea of being royalty save for a few lucky ones like Grace Kelly and Kate Middleton, but on your wedding day you always feel a bit like a princess. How fun to be mistaken for one on that particular day. Not only does the bride get to feel extra special, but she also made a little girls day, and she’ll probably have that memory for a long time.
This story is a great reminder of appreciating the good in the world and cherish the innocence and imagination of children. They see so much possibility when as adults it’s easy to get wrapped up in our responsibilities and day to day work that we forget to dream.
