Thoughtful Dog Dad Builds Amazing Harry Potter-esque Room For His Pampered Pooch

Many pet owners consider their animals to be a part of the family. They sit on our couches, celebrate birthdays, and are given gifts for holidays.  They become part of family photos and snuggle their way into our hearts. One man went to the next level for his pup by building him a bedroom under his stairs. This may remind some Harry Potter fans of the cupboard under the stairs which wasn’t so appealing, but this dog’s digs are much more comfortable.

David Maceo from Tampa floor decided to build a bedroom for his dog Hennessy. Hennessy is an adorable 6-year-old French bulldog. Maceo is not Hennessy’s first owner. He first belonged to Maceo’s brother-in-law but had to give up Hennessy when he moved to Colombia. Hennessy can’t fly because he had a heart murmur. Maceo said his brother-in-law was worried that if he tried to take Hennessy the plane ride would cause him too much stress and he might’ve passed away.

Giving up a pet can never be easy, but at least Hennessy went to family.  Maceo and his wife took him. Family leaving is stressful for a dog as well so being left behind can’t have been easy for Hennessy. However, he quickly adjusted to life with the Maceo’s and has been part of their family for several years now.

According to Maceo, Hennessy was the runt of his litter and was only supposed to live for two years. Six years later he’s still going strong and very energetic. His bedroom has little photos on the walls including one of his brother, who passed away a year ago, and of his human family as well.

You can tell a lot of love and thought went into Hennessy’s bedroom. Maceo planned out everything himself. The molding around the bedroom matches the rest of his house, and he installed a motion-sensor light that turns off after a few seconds of no movement. The dog’s bed is also in the room making it the perfect spot for him to relax. The couple doesn’t have kids, so they love to spoil and love on their little pup.

This story went viral about a month ago when Maceo’s brother tweeted the photos. The post has now been liked 350,000, and it’s easy to see why. The room is quite literally a mini version of a bedroom, and Hennessy looks adorable in it. Maceo’s wife even has plans to decorate it for Christmas.

People will go pretty far for their favorite four-legged family members, but this is the first I’ve heard of a bedroom being built for a dog. It seems like the perfect spot for Hennessy to relax and recharge before going out and having fun with his owners. It’s impressive all of the work Maceo put into it as well; you can tell he really loves his dog and didn’t skimp on any detail of building the little home. Dogs are only with us for a short time, so we might as well make it special for them!
